I am having a similar pet incompatability problem.

I have a set of Love Birds that were given to me 2 years ago, and I have grown quite fond of them. They even talk a little bit. Sometimes, when it's warm enough outside, I like to take them out to enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, and the songs & sounds of other birds. I didn't use to have to worry about them too much. I could sit their cage on the back porch and knew that they would be just finen, but all of that has recently changed.

A wild stray calico cat has taken up residence here. Cats and birds just don't mix. The cat would see my Love Birds as tasty treats for a nice afternoon snack. I can no longer just leave the bird cage sitting low on the porch when I take them outside. I have to hang them high in a tree where I know they are safe. Of course, I could call Animal Control and have them haul off the cat, but I have decided that I like having the cat outside. So, adjustments had to be made. (Incidentally, the cat will finally let me close to it after many weeks of watching me put food out for it.)

I am sorry that you lost your fish. I am sure Elvis was just really curious as to what was moving around in that bowl. So glad that Kojak and Elvis were not hurt with all the broken glass.
