In the past week, I have thought a lot about certain aspects of my life. It’s amazing the thoughts that show up while you are planting flowers and your hands are covered with dirt. I dug up weeds to make sure that my flowers had a chance to bloom and grow. If I had not done so, the weeds would eventually take over the flower bed and stunt the growth of the flowers. I don’t consider “weeding” a pleasant task, but it is a necessary one.

Our hopes and dreams are sort of like flower beds, and with the right preparation, cultivation, love and care, our dreams can manifest into something beautiful. However, if you drop a flower seed onto unprepared soil, and never water it, never weed around it, or expose it to sunlight, the chances are great that the seed will never take root and grow. And so it is with our garden of dreams.

Our Souls produce dream seeds on a regular basis according to our interests and abilities. Many dreams and ideas will come and go. Some ideas may cause us to stop and think about them for a moment, but they never get to the planting stage. Eventually, an idea, or a dream, will really grab our attention. It’s time to use our “gardening” skills.

Preparing the soil: Research what is needed to lay the foundation for your dream. Educate yourself in every possible way. Find out if this dream has been accomplished or tried before. Discover ways that you can improve upon the idea or make it unique. Explore your market, and decide who your customers are. Compare the actual dollar value on the product or service that you are rendering with those in the same field or market. Make your plan, step out in faith, and plant your dreams. “Wishing” won’t make your dreams a reality. You have to physically engage yourself to make it happen.

Water thoroughly: Daily refresh your mind with positive thoughts, quotes, and affirmations. Surround yourself with positive people who are also goal oriented, and encourage your dreams and ambitions.

Expose to sunlight: Find a time each day to connect to your higher source for strength, insight, and to renew the vision you have for yourself.

Weed as necessary: Protect your dreams from anything that may try to choke or stifle them. It will be necessary to weed out the nay sayers, dream slayers, sabotagers, leeches, energy vampires, and abusers of your time.

Last, but not least, don’t give up! Even the best gardens take time to bloom and grow!
